Over the past 17 years of practice, the most rewarding part of my career has been seeing patients achieve their occupational, personal and spiritual goals through the management of their psychiatric symptoms. I work with patients to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses the symptoms that are causing difficulty in their lives I have experience in working with children, adults, and geriatrics patients. Other areas of experience include addiction medicine and providing psychiatric consultation services for an inpatient medical facility where I was able to use my background in family practice and psychiatry.
As a nurse practitioner I prescribe medications when they are indicated but also use non-medication approaches and refer patients for additional services when needed. I offer 30 minute visits to allow extra time for education and the discussion of treatment options.
In order to effectively treat psychiatric symptoms, I believe both physical and mental health issues need to be addressed; therefore I emphasize the importance of collaboration with primary care providers, therapists and other specialists to treat patients from a holistic approach.
