As a psychiatrist and psychodynamic psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience, I enjoy working with a wide variety of mental health concerns. I have developed special expertise in helping persons with self esteem issues, relationship problems, midlife and career transitions and trauma. I believe that talking through ones struggles, burdens, losses and pain leads to greater fulfillment in life, a sense of hope and joy. It is a privilege to be invited to accompany another on their personal journey. Psychotherapy is hard work but well worth the investment in oneself for discovering potential in love, work and play.
I work intensively and empathetically with the longterm struggles that impact current capacity for experiencing joy, intimacy and creativity. Traumas and losses of all kinds; childhood maltreatment, physical abuse, depression, anxiety, cancer and physical illnesses are areas of my extensive training and interest. Psychotherapy can truly be a new beginning.
I have taught courses and supervised psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals for over 25 years. I am an Associate Clinical Professor at Oregon Health and Science University and Faculty Member of Oregon Psychoanalytic Center. I am also a Diplomate of the International Academy of Psychotherapy.
