Hi! My name is Kathryn, but I go by Kat. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). My background began in emergency medicine, where I spent nearly a decade caring for patients in high-acuity settings and saw how often mental health, trauma, and substance use go unrecognized. That experience shaped my approach, focusing on early recognition, whole-person care, and meeting people where they are. I earned my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), and am currently pursuing my PhD with a focus on the early recognition of eating disorders.
I treat a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, trauma, and substance use. I have a particular interest in eating disorders, especially those that are often missed. My approach is evidence-based and individualized, integrating medication with a deeper understanding of each person’s experience.
I’m laid-back in style; you’ll most often see me in a t-shirt or sweatshirt, but I take our work seriously. I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space and use shared decision-making to find what works best for you. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you understand your mind and body for lasting change.
