I am a Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with advanced training in psychotherapy and medication management. I particularly enjoy working with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and the adjustment--both physical and psychological--to parenthood.
My background as a Community Health Nurse visiting pregnant and newly parenting families, and my understanding of the hormonal and biological factors that are intertwined with emotional issues during this time, make me an excellent choice for prenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression. I have a certificate from Postpartum Support International in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
As a nurse, I take an individualized and holistic approach to both psychotherapy and medications. My therapy is relationship-based, and draws from supportive, psychodynamic, and cognitively based traditions. My office is a safe place where together we can reflect on your life, dreams and goals, and address any barriers that stand in your way.
New parents are welcome to bring infants or young children with them to appointments. I am also able to do genetic testing for psychotropic medication metabolism, which may assist us to find the correct medication for you with less trial and error.
