The best way to get to know how I work is to come in and talk with me about yourself. I work with people who are dissatisfied with their lives as well as people who are struggling with mental illness. I will work with you collaboratively to achieve one or more of the following: greater freedom in what you choose for yourself, greater satisfaction in relationships and work, a sense of mastery over your emotions, symptoms, or sources of distress, deeper self-understanding and comfort with who you are.
My practice varies with the person. I listen carefully to understand your unique story, asking questions for clarification. Except in emergencies, I rarely give advice; I try to help you become confident in figuring things out yourself.
I sometimes prescribe medication.
I help couples strengthen relationships through listening to each other.
I am an MD psychiatrist, so I can prescribe medication if, after careful assessment, we agree that it may help.
My training as a psychoanalyst is the most extensive therapy training.
I am experienced in working with creative people, artists,
students, parents, and people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
