About
I am a board certified psychiatrist with 20 years of experience. I treat a wide variety of conditions including life adjustment issues, relationship difficulties, anxiety, mood disorders, and other common psychiatric conditions. I specialize in adult psychiatry and psychotherapy, utilizing a strengths-based approach and medications when indicated. As in my general psychiatric practice, my approach with athletes incorporates positive psychology and cognitive behavioral strategies.
Psychotherapy promotes change by expanding one's compassionate understanding of the self. My focus in psychotherapy includes increasing awareness, augmenting positive emotions, and promoting life engagement by utilizing one's strengths.
Prior to entering private practice, I was a faculty member at the University of Washington School of Medicine from 2003 to 2014. My teaching and administrative roles included Associate Residency Training Director and Director of Psychotherapy Supervision. I have lectured and published on topics in psychiatry. I have experience with DI and DII athletes.
