Many of my patients found only temporary relief from prior treatments and are interested in a real change. If you are motivated and prefer someone who does not recommend medications easily and believes in getting to the root of problems, I may be the person for you. I am a very experienced clinician, providing individualized treatment based on thorough assessment and refers you to therapists who would be a better match for you. I have trained at Cornell and Columbia and I am on the faculty at both places. I am a training and supervising analyst at Columbia and am expert in TFP (Transference Focused Psychotherapy).
Depression and anxiety are symptoms that can have various causes. I almost always combine therapy with medications. Sometimes you will be able to stop taking medications. Other times, finding the right medication or combination is challenging. When necessary I use the latest genetic test to help with this process.
Some of the difficulties I can help you with are self-defeating tendencies, dissatisfaction with self and others, self-destructive behaviors, repeated maladaptive patterns in interpersonal and/or work situations,sexual inhibition. I have special expertise differentiating bipolar and borderline personality disorders as well as a specialized therapy: TFP.
