Dr. John Whittier is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, PTSD, ADHD and mood disorders. Dr. Whittier is primarily focused on medication management of general psychiatric conditions. He approaches each client as an individual, using the one-hour initial intake to get a comprehensive look at each client’s unique needs. From there he works with his clients to provide options and flexibility in the treatment plan utilizing a combination of psychotherapy, medications, and evidence-based alternative therapies.
Follow-ups typically last 20 to 30 minutes with the goal to evaluate the treatment plan and adjust accordingly. He also maintains a small psychodynamic psychotherapy panel for 45-minute appointments where he works with his clients to understand developmental and relational patterns that contribute to symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Dr. Whittier attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology prior to obtaining his Masters degree in Medical Science at Loyola University Chicago. He completed his training in medicine at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont.
