I integrate conventional psychiatric treatment options of psychotherapy with researched based complementary modalities including mindfulness, breath-work, yoga, biofeedback, imagery, EMDR, hypnosis, nutrition, exercise, and supplements, along with prescriptions, if and only if, absolutely necessary. Conditions treated include depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, eating disorders, and addictions as well as fatigue, pain and other general health issues that often have a stress induced component.

I am particularly interested in helping people find alternatives to their medications by teaching stress management skills and supporting their bodies through nutrition and exercise.

Jodie Skillicorn's Groups

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

MBCT is an innovative program that has been shown to prevent relapse of depression and help with anxiety as well as medications. The 8 week group utilizes mindful meditation and movement to become more aware of the patterns of the mind, so that one can learn to break the link between negative mood and the negative thinking that can lead to a relapse of depression or an increase in anxiety and panic. The skills of mindfulness allow one to disengage from negative thoughts, rumination and worry and to become more in touch with the present moment and live more fully.

Professional Connections

I enjoy having Dr. Skillicorn in my professional network of providers whom I refer clients to. She is willing to work with clients where they are and support them in healing using multiple tools in her toolbox. Dr. Skillicorn actually does therapy with her patients instead of the typical 15 min appointment of most Psychiatrists. Her perspective is a breath of fresh air!
