As a working mother, spouse, and physician, I understand the challenges facing women and men in the Houston area. As life becomes more stressful and as we do less to take care of ourselves, problems with mood (depression) and anxiety are likely to emerge, particularly in those with personal or family histories of such disorders. I see patients ages 18 and above and am interested in the social, academic,occupational, marital and emotional difficulties which often arise at various turning points in life and as responsibility accrues throughout our lifetime. It's never too late to get help or seek change.
I use medications and supportive therapy to treat mood and anxiety disorders. I have a special interest in disorders arising during changes in women's lives (menstruation, childbirth, and menopause). I have additional training in obsessive-compulsive and severe anxiety disorders from the OCD unit at the Menninger Clinic.
I schedule half hour to one hour follow-up sessions to discuss medications, symptoms and feelings. This reduces the amount of patients I see, allowing more responsiveness to your needs. To ensure your privacy, I do not contract with insurance companies, but assist you in filing insurance reimbursement, typically 50-100%.
