Conventionally and holistically trained, I'm a psychiatrist also certified in Functional Medicine. Applying an integrative and functional approach to psychiatry provides a more complete model to treating chronic illness. Chronic illness involves a web of our environment, experience, genetic expression. Nutrition, habits, infections, gut health, hormones, etc all intermingle to affect our health. What we call depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, dementia and schizophrenia involve whole body processes. They just also happen to involve the brain and mind!
My approach investigates underlying imbalances including areas of nutrition, inflammation, gut health, hormone balance, and environmental exposures. These factors are filtered through the lens of the events and relationships that dictate our health habits. Taking a deeper dive helps plan personalized treatment plans not dependent on guessing the right medication.
