Many patients believe psychiatrists only prescribe medications, or that they treat mental illnesses but not patients. I am a very experienced psychiatrist, psychotherapist and psychoanalyst. I also worked for 25 years with hospitalized teenagers. I will listen carefully, offer expert support and guidance, and treat you as a whole, unique person with complex needs and wishes. We will work collaboratively to formulate your own goals, and I will help you meet them. I do prescribe medications, but only when it is necessary, and not without also offering you other ways of getting the help that you need. Licensed in Texas and California.
I specialize in helping people solve problems with relationships, work, and life transitions, or who suffer from depression, other mood disorders, anxiety, and the effects of trauma, or who have concurrent medical conditions. I also am highly skilled in working with adolescents. I can help people understand when they need medication and when they don't.
