This clinic specializes in TMS therapy. This is transcranial magnetic stimulation and it is FDA approved, endorsed by the American Psychiatric Association. TMS is ideal to consider if a patient has underwent traditional therapy and medication management but they are still struggling with finding relief from their depressive symptoms. Individuals may still struggle with low mood, lack of interest, low energy, difficulty thinking clearly, sleep and appetite disturbances and more. As a board certified doctor, I'm trained with a deep understanding of physiology and pharmacology. The extensive training an ACGME accredited psychiatry residency offers provides much more specialized working knowledge than a non-physician or even a primary care provider. TMS is not offered by many psychiatrists and provides an additional layer of help.
Visits are longer than the usual 15 minute "med check." We perform brief therapy during visits while people are having TMS at the office. Prescribing practices are minimalist with emphasis on only prescribing if necessary, minimum dose necessary and only for as long as necessary and balancing this with achievement of goals.
