I am a psychiatrist and specialize in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders using medication and psychotherapy, either alone or in combination with one another. As an academic psychiatrist on faculty at Columbia University, I conduct research studying mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder, and I teach medical students and psychiatry residents about these conditions. I practice evidence-based medicine, using a broad range of approaches, including medication, psychotherapy, diet, bright light therapy, and mindfulness meditation, to tailor your treatment to your specific goals and preferences.
As a therapist, I am curious, non-judgmental, and collaborative in my approach. I received advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, and I use cognitive-behavioral techniques to help people with depression, panic symptoms, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other conditions.
I use other forms of psychotherapy as well, including psychodynamic and supportive approaches. I provide medication management, including to individuals who are working with a therapist already. I collaborate actively and maintain good communication with therapists, working as a team to help you achieve your goals.
