Hello, my name is Jeannie Umanzor, and I am a DNP prepared Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Prctitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 8 years of experience in the field. For the past 8 years, I have been dedicated to working in a federally qualified health clinic serving the unhoused population. I have encountered some of the most complex illnesses, addictions and mentally ill patients. In my role, I have had the privilege of seeing a wide variety of diseases and mental health disorders. My passion for mental health is unwavering, and I firmly believe in a whole person, patient-centered approach to care.
During a patient's first mental health appointment, our primary focus is on understanding each individual's unique needs and circumstances. We start by discussing their goals for seeking therapy and getting to know them on a personal level. By delving into their struggles in daily life, we can identify potential triggers and develop an effective plan.
I have developed strong support systems and networks to which I can refer patients for further guidance and assistance. This holistic approach allows me to consider the patient as a whole rather than just treating symptoms.
