Seeking professional help for mental health is a challenge for many people. Between doubt (about their symptoms needing treatment), skepticism (about the efficacy of treatments), shame (about their symptoms), and frustration (over finding providers that can treat them), many people are not able to connect with providers who can help them. People deserve to have access to providers who can listen, explain, and treat them with intelligence and empathy.
I am a trained psychiatrist and economist who has spent the last decade working with students and professionals, primarily working in the STEM fields. I believe that a critical part of any treatment plan is meeting the patient where they are, and using language that they understand so that they can make informed decisions about treatment options.
It's been a hard few years for most of us, with challenges for some that have lasted even longer. I am expanding my practice in no small part to help people who want someone to listen, explain, and (should they decide to) engage in treatment that is both rooted in science and empathy for their condition.
