Dr. Wood graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine in 1982. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at VCU Health, where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Over the course of 36 years, he served as a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at VCU School of Medicine, and during his last decade there, he held the role of Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education and Student Affairs.
Dr. Wood specializes in the neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and neurophysiological foundations of behavior in both health and illness. This expertise has made him highly knowledgeable about medications used to treat psychiatric disorders.
