We are going through a major mental health crisis. I specialize in depression, and anxiety, mood disorders, especially childhood trauma- the topic of my research at UPenn, eating disorders, autism,ADHD. I work well with schools, blended/ mixed families, and have a special interest in College Mental health, having worked at CAPS clinic at UPenn and the Depression Project at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have a collaborative approach to patient care where parents and the patient are partners in treatment with the doctor. My approach is - start low and go slow on meds. Any meds I will not give my own kids, I wouldn't yours!

She also has extensive experience with medication management for eating disorders. Dr. Chmura is trained in both Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry from UCSF and Stanford Universities. She uses a warm, holistic approach to treating every individual, couple, and family. Dr. Chmura is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, (CBT, DBT, Supportive). She is an expert on pharmacologic management for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, ADHD, and post-partum depression and anxiety.

Holistic approach- look at your relationships, environment, and upbringing along with providing solutions and a treatment plan for your current concerns. My ideal client could be a child, adolescent or an adult that wants and needs to get psychiatric care. I am an open-minded and holistic psychiatrist who takes the whole person into account when I am treating him/her. I practice the biopsychosocial model and I also understand that not all treatment modalities work for all people. I tailor treatment goals and strategies for each individual person. I am also a big believer in combining diet, exercise, acupuncture, reiki, massage, physical therapy, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, psychoeducation, groups into the treatment plan and focusing on wellness as well.

My journey and commitment towards practicing integrative psychiatry stems from years of work experience and a keen focus on treating the whole person, by getting to the root cause of symptoms, utilizing tools such as lab testing, supplements, psychotherapy, and medication support.

It is not uncommon for us feel lost, judged and stigmatized when we are anxious, depressed, traumatized or have any other mental health symptoms, more so when we have concerns regarding recreational drug use. We offer patient centered and nonjudgmental care and treatment. Science based medication management is offered as well, with great emphasis on therapy. We treat various mental illnesses like ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, OCD and PMDD. We have worked with patients with various forms of addiction, like tobacco, opioids, benzodiazepines, alcohol, methamphetamines, and other addictive behaviors.

Preeti Mathur, M.D. is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist. She completed her residency and was Chief Resident at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College, NY. She has worked at San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital for 3 years and is currently also working at Palomar Pomerado Hospital.
