Hello! I graduated with a degree in nursing from Santa Monica College in 2009. Since that time, I’ve worked in several hospital settings including intensive care. I finished my first masters degree as and Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2017 from California State University at Dominguez Hills and started managing extremely sick people in a long-term acute care hospital One universal I’ve seen throughout my many different careers in and out of healthcare is that the presence (or absence) of good mental health care spells the difference between success and failure in any environment.

I have over 10 years of nursing experience in various positions and settings. While working extensively with adults of all ages, I found a passion in the mental health field. I have a deep interest in integrative care and believe that mental health must be addressed from multiple fronts.

I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of Psychiatric Mental Health experience, focusing mostly in crisis treatment, alcohol and opioid dependence along with the treatment of schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. I consult all clients without judgment, exclude no psychiatric issue or age group and truly believe every patient deserves only the best treatment and care. I have worked in several different units in the psychiatric Hospitals around the Miami area. Born and raised in Kansas City, I decided to pursue a medical career during high school. I went to trade school and worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. After several years I decided to further my education in nursing, attaining my LPN, RN, BSN, MSN, and post-graduate certification. I graduated summa cum laude from all nursing coursework. ​I am a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in treating mental health challenges and symptom management for children, teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum, and those with ADHD, Anxiety and OCD. I specialize in providing a comprehensive secure psychiatric mental health evaluation and medication management for children, teens, and adults who are struggling with a variety of symptoms. These include anxiety, depression, ADHD, unstable moods, personality disorders, trauma, sleep disturbances, substance use, OCD and psychosis. Although carefully chosen medications can quickly achieve much needed relief of anxiety, depression, insomnia and trauma symptoms, a thorough evaluation can also identify many opportunities for improvement without medications. The most effective treatment plan may include work-life balance, nutrition and sleep strategies, addressing, avoiding or adapting to triggers, in addition to multiple psychotherapies. When needed, medications with the lowest side effects, easiest to use, most predictably effective & not addictive are recommended. Ultimately, it is up to each person to decide which strategies they will use to achieve wellness.

I have over 15 years experience working with and prescribing medications for young adults, adults, and the geriatric population in hospitals and outpatient clinics. I have training in Psychiatry and general medicine. The first appointment will be a focused evaluation where I will get to know you as an individual and ask detailed questions so an appropriate diagnosis can be made. Perhaps you are not sure whether medication is right for you, or you have had many medication trials in the past. During the initial evaluation, we will discuss the potential benefits and risks of medication for you as an individual.

I provide treatment to children, teen and adult patients throughout Colorado with most psychiatric conditions, including a wide range of neurological and/or developmental challenges (ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mood Disorders) and major medical issues. It is imperative I take the time to study and research patients' cases to find answers. It is my ultimate goal to limit and minimize my patients’ need for further therapy as much as possible. Additionally, I make every effort to maximize the relief of symptoms with the most conservative use of medication possible.

I am a Board-certified adult psychiatrist, practicing Psychiatry since graduating from medical school in 2005. I have also done fellowship in Psychoanalysis from Boston Psychoanalytic Institute and Society and also holds an unrestricted license to prescribe Suboxone for management of patients with opiate addiction. I am originally from Pakistan and come from a family of physicians and surgeons. Following the footsteps of my family members and keeping the tradition of practicing medicine alive, I am now the fourth-generation physician in my family and the third generation practicing medicine in the USA.
