Extra time allows me to be thorough, listen to your story without interrupting, and discuss treatment plans in detail. My goal is to help you make transformative life changes and build emotional resilience through a collaborative process. We will work using talk therapy to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, personality, and relationships to better sort out your reasons for seeking help. We will consider whether there is a biological aspect to your difficulties and if you may benefit from medications to enhance your therapy. Finally, we will identify your goals, strengths, temperament, interests, personality traits, and life experiences to tailor an individual treatment for you.

I am an adult psychiatrist, providing both psychotherapy and medication management for patients with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, trauma-related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, attention deficit disorders, and others. I practice evidence based conventional medication management but am complementary-medicine and alternative-medicine friendly. I will take patients who work with other psychotherapists and are in need of medication management alone, or am able to provide both services.

Fees are negotiable! As a psychiatrist I have a unique practice where I offer combined talk work (psychotherapy) along with conservative use of medication, where helpful. I work with individuals, couples, and families from a family systems perspective, having trained extensively in Bowen Family Systems Theory. A Colorado native, I live in Des Moines, Iowa and provide televideo psychiatry throughout both Iowa and Colorado. I negotiate fees with my patients.
