My ideal client is someone navigating anxiety, mood symptoms, or trauma who feels overwhelmed, misunderstood, or uncertain about their treatment options, especially when physical and mental health challenges overlap. They are looking for a psychiatrist who listens closely, explains clearly, and partners with them to find a plan that feels safe, effective, and personalized. They want clarity about their symptoms, confidence in their medications, and practical tools that help them feel more grounded, stable, and present in their daily lives.

I am currently accepting new patients at this time. My approach is collaborative and non-directive, and I act as someone who can help identify possible routes through the challenges of your life but will not insist that you must choose a particular path. I am a consultant for you and what troubles you, and together we can identify what it is you care about in life and makes it worth living, what is standing in the way, and how medications and psychotherapy might be able to help you pursue the former and overcome the later.

FAQ - Licensed Supervisors Psychiatrists
What do psychiatrist clinical supervisors do?
Clinical supervisors guide and support psychiatrists in their practice by reviewing active cases, providing feedback on diagnostic and pharmacological decisions, and helping psychiatrists navigate various other clinical challenges. Supervision usually takes the form of regular one-on-one or small group sessions, during which psychiatrists discuss their cases (without sharing identifying patient information) and receive guidance from a more experienced psychiatrists. From a patient's perspective, knowing that your psychiatrist participates in supervision can be a reassuring sign that they are committed to providing high-quality care.

Why do psychiatrists need supervision?
For psychiatrists in training, supervision is a core requirement of residency and fellowship programs. Psychiatric residents must complete supervised clinical hours under an attending psychiatrist before they can practice independently, and during this period, a supervisor plays a critical role in their clinical development. There is often a significant gap between medical school training and the realities of managing complex psychiatric patients, and supervision helps bridge this gap. However, even attending psychiatrists benefit from supervision or peer consultation as a way to maintain the quality of their care and stay current with evolving clinical best practices.

Who is qualified to be a clinical supervisor of psychiatrists?
To supervise psychiatrists in training, a professional must be a fully licensed medical doctor who has completed their own psychiatric training and passed their “board certification” exams in psychiatry. Qualified supervisors typically also have several years of clinical experience treating patients, and some training programs (such as residencies and fellowships) may impose additional standards for supervisors who participate in their program, such as additional training or practice experience in a specific area like addiction psychiatry.
