I believe all clients should be treated based on their individual circumstances, as we all face different challenges and have unique needs. I am driven to help others overcome personal obstacles through establishing solid, trusting relationships, improving self-awareness, and by use of evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. I believe that in order to achieve optimal mental health, clients should be included in determining goals for treatment and fully understand their treatment plan.
Dr. Papagiannopoulos is currently seeing patients between the ages of 12 and 60. He provides therapy sessions 1-2x weekly for his patients, in order to more deeply understand their concerns. I have come across many individuals that are currently going through mental health problems and requires guidance to get help or to be treated. Mental health is as important as other medical issues. Mental health plays an important role in the way we deal with daily life stress, how we relate to others, and the decisions that we make reflects to our daily lives. Without positive mental health, it will be almost impossible to realize your full potential, work productively, make a meaningful contribution to yourself and a family, or handle the stress that comes with life.

Are you dealing with depression, anxiety, attention or behavior issues? Trauma or mood issues? If you are looking to connect with a provider who cares and accepts you for you...you have come to the right place!
I am a board certified psychiatrist who has been working in both academic and private sectors for the past 20 years in Chicago area. My areas of expertise are reproductive psychiatry (pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, infertility), as well as mood and anxiety disorders in both genders. My extensive experience, knowledge and multicultural sensitivity, have shaped my approach to treatment as individualized and holistic. I am combining integrative methods with psychopharmacology and psychotherapeutic modalities to address complex mental health difficulties and treat them successfully. My practice is via tele-psychiatry only.
I am most interested in collaborating in a way that allows for optimal outcomes. How this takes form depends on your individual needs. A common difficulty people face is obtaining clear information from their doctor. It can be frustrating for the patient and for the family to receive information from a team of providers in a way that sounds like individual voices that are not in synchrony as opposed to a concise, cogent summary of the available information that affects decision-making.
I work primarily with individuals, providing psychotherapy (talk therapy) and medication when needed. I also see couples (gay or straight) who are either in distress, or just trying to improve their communication skills. Much of my experience has involved helping women with depression, relationship problems, parenting or medical illness. I have friends, students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds. As a university assistant professor I teach what I practice (and vice versa). And as a parent I understand first-hand the challenges of this (sometimes) impossible job!

The best way to get to know how I work is to come in and talk with me about yourself. I work with people who are dissatisfied with their lives as well as people who are struggling with mental illness. I will work with you collaboratively to achieve one or more of the following: greater freedom in what you choose for yourself, greater satisfaction in relationships and work, a sense of mastery over your emotions, symptoms, or sources of distress, deeper self-understanding and comfort with who you are.
I focused on addiction medicine and mental health in PA school and continue to have a special interest in addressing the root causes of addiction, including PTSD, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I'm excited to grow with Wesana Clinics in making mental health and ketamine easily accessible and acceptable to all who need it.
(taking new patients) I use a holistic approach, treating the full person rather than just symptoms. I specialize in treating Adult and Adolescents (12 years and up) with mood, self-esteem, and concentration problems, as well as working with more diffuse issues around identity, interpersonal relationships, and professional achievement. I address emotional distress and difficulties in daily living. This could manifest as depression, anxiety, insomnia, problems with intimacy or self-esteem, problems with concentration, feeling excessively angry or guilty, or trouble finding meaning in life, to name only a few.
Immediate Openings Available! If you or a family member are experiencing anxiety, depression, poor focus, poor sleep, repeated challenges with behavior, relationships, or work, I would be honored to explore how we may be able to bring you some relief through appropriate medication. Seeing these significant improvements in people’s quality of life after they have been through long periods of struggle is what I love about my work.
