My practice offers something for everyone. I say this because I treat children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. As a psychiatrist I can prescribe medication. However, my expertise and experience as a therapist, allowing me to understand my patients as whole persons, can minimize the amount of medication necessary or problems can often be addressed and resolved with therapy alone. This is accomplished by helping patients identify and effectively manage their emotions.
I am comfortable treating severe problems such as psychosis, personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders including Asberger's, attention deficit and hyperactivity and obsessive-compulsive disorders. I also enjoy working with patients without a major diagnosis who are just trying to enjoy life more fully or who believe there has to be more to life.
I treat anxiety, depression, fear, frustration and anger, and work and relationship problems. I work with individuals, couples and families, including parent counseling (from infancy on). I can also employ, when desirable, mind-body techniques.
