As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I work with individuals to achieve optimal mental health through collaborative, supportive care. I provide psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, medication management, health education and brief counseling to adults. My specialties include ADHD and OCD. I am limited in my ability to manage clients that have experienced recent hospitalization or have a personality or eating disorders and need a high level of support to maintain safety.
Psychiatric medications combined with counseling, education and lifestyle changes can lead to positive outcomes in mental health. Brief counseling is provided during medication management appointments when appropriate. Most clients also see a therapist for more intensive therapy. I am happy to explore integrative therapies to augment medication and therapy.
I believe that the most important factor when working with an individual is to build a solid therapeutic relationship. I use the first few sessions to get to know the individual and create a lasting bond to work toward positive change. I have a Husky named Stella who comes to the office with me.
