An ideal client would be cisgender minority women although all genders are equally accepted. These individuals typically face adversities related to gender roles, bias, home environment stress, imposter syndrome, and day-to-day feelings of acceptance in society. My goal as the provider typically would include not only diagnosing and treating acute psychiatric conditions but also providing a safe space to share their day-to-day stressors.

My approach is based on integrative psychiatry, which uses medications, therapy and complementary medicine to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. I address the combined impact of sleep, lifestyle, relationships, nutrition and chronic medical conditions on well-being, and use cutting edge tools like genetic testing to guide personalized treatment with medication and supplements. I consider the patient’s cultural background in my assessments and I can provide treatment in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian. My goal is to help my patients create lasting changes and build vitality, resilience and purpose in life.

Jermilla is a controlled substance-free provider. When it comes to controlled substances, I strongly believe there is a level of long-term oversight needed that telehealth does not provide. An in-person relationship is better suited to managing and monitoring use of these medications. As a telehealth provider of psychiatry services, Thriveworks will follow evidence-based best practices and step out of the controlled substance space. This includes any benzodiazepine, hypnotic sleep aid and stimulant.
