This practice is currently accepting new patients for psychotherapy, with the addition of medications when appropriate; it is not currently accepting new patients for medication management-only, or for split treatment (medication management in this practice, & psychotherapy with another professional).
Dr. John provides psychodynamic psychotherapy (sessions are at least weekly), with the addition of medications when appropriate. Her therapeutic approach is also influenced by residency training in cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and reproductive psychiatry (the treatment of women in pregnancy and postpartum).
Dr. John's undergraduate degree is in Human Biology, from Stanford University, and she has a Ph.D. in History, with a concentration in the History of Science and Medicine, from Yale University. She is a graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, and she completed her psychiatry residency at UCLA.
