The stigma around mental health treatment can make initiation intimidating, because of this I offer a non judgmental and confidential space to get the treatment you need. As well I focus on the individual and not the diagnosis. Medication management cannot be performed properly if people are all treated the same. Services include medication management/review ,medical marijuana, and first time consultations to discuss a treatment plan. ADHD diagnosis/management is also provided. ADHD is often overlooked or under treated. My goal is to provide a personal experience where we work together for optimal care ensuring all needs are met.

Attention, impulse control, and trauma-related issues are often misunderstood, stigmatized, and poorly treated. With time and treatment, patients who are affected learn to recognize and compensate for their symptoms. Self-acceptance brings appreciation for their own energy, strengths, and resilience. Dr. Walter Piddoubny is a double boarded psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. He completed his undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University followed by his medical degree at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at Stony Brook University Hospital followed by his fellowship in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Piddoubny has held academic appointment at Stony Brook University Hospital practicing as a consultant psychiatrist as well as Associate Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program.

Alexander Gumbs, FNP/PMHNP-BC is a dual board-certified practitioner in psychiatry and family medicine. Mr. Gumbs uses an integrative holistic approach to treat the bodies and minds of his patients. He is proficient in treating those across the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults, and seniors). Community focus is his passion. He has experience treating disadvantaged populations, such as the homeless and those in the criminal justice system transitioning back to civilian life. Mr. Gumbs treats those with anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, depression, autism, insomnia, dementia, and postpartum depression.

I have been both a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Pediatric Medical Registered Nurse for over 15 years. I have helped heal the child physically, and emotionally. I’ve assisted pre-teens and teenagers through their transition into adulthood. My youngest patient was one hour old, my eldest was 102 years old. I have traveled the country and have met, cared for, and treated people of different backgrounds, cultures, socioeconomic status, race, sexual orientation, and gender. My work experience as a Psychiatric NP includes an emergency room, outpatient, and inpatient psychiatric unit.

I am a fully licensed psychiatrist serving the NYC community with over 20 years of medical experience. Understanding the uniqueness of each patient’s situation is my main focus.
