I am a board certified Psychiatrist practicing in Long Island, NY. I provide both office visits and telepsychiatry visits. I have trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy, family and marital therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as medication management. Whatever your reasons for seeing a psychiatrist ? whether you are suffering from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, OCD, attention problems dysphoria, or just wanting to perform better at work, I strongly believe that everyone has the potential to feel and be better, and everyone deserves optimal care.
I have a special interest in integrative psychiatry. My psychodynamic training has helped me understand unconscious conflict and how they can affect psychiatric symptoms and response to medications. It is my routine practice to screen for medical, nutritional, endocrine ( hormonal ) ,factors , external stressors and internal conflict which may exacerbate symptoms.
I believe that combining medication with psychotherapy is more effective than medication alone. Sometimes patients can be treated with psychotherapy instead of medication, or can discontinue medication following psychotherapy. I take time to ensure that medication is titrated with care and aim for optimum symptom reduction with minimum side effects.
