Dr. George “Hal” Baker, MD is a psychiatrist completing residency at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University (anticipated graduation 2026). He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine after completing undergraduate studies in neurobiology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. His training includes inpatient, emergency, outpatient, psychotherapy, and crisis psychiatry, including work with the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network Crisis Center.
He also completed a National Institutes of Health cancer research fellowship in breast cancer stem cell biology and translational research. His clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, sleep disorders, psychopharmacology, and the impact of modern digital environments on mental health.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys music, fitness, technology, gaming, and time with his wife and three rescue cats. Dr. Baker believes psychiatric care begins with patients feeling heard, respected, and understood. He emphasizes open communication, collaboration, and a nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable discussing difficult experiences.
