Dr. Matthews holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in political science from Tulane University, where he attended from 1989-1993. At Tulane University, Dr. Matthews maintained a full tuition Dean’s Honors academic scholarship while volunteering his time tutoring at nearby schools and participating in the African-American Congress at Tulane. Dr. Matthews’ Residency rotations included internal medicine, psychiatry – inpatient/outpatient/consults, ER, neurology, VA psychiatry, geriatrics, Child and Adolescent, ECT/TMS, addiction, and research. In his free time, Dr. Matthews enjoys playing the saxophone, running, and writing.
He has been an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.
