Hi! My name is Dr. Sara Chun, MD. I am a board-certified psychiatrist who provides medication management. I hope to provide an informative space for patients to consider different treatment options and collaboratively find their personal balance between therapy, skills, and medicine. I also want to understand any questions or apprehensions that folks may have about taking psychiatric medications. While I primarily manage medications, I incorporate cognitive behavioral, dialectic, and psychodynamic therapy approaches into my sessions in hopes of making our meetings more useful and robust.

I am an NYU-educated, ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in providing authentic and non-judgmental nursing care. My focus are the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, and insomnia. I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. My approach is collaborative, individualized, holistic from a shared decision-making perspective, which combine therapy styles from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) with IFS-informed (Internal Family System-informed) EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

I am a Mount Sinai clinical professor and board-certified adult psychiatrist. I trained at Sinai as well as Yale for medical school, where I completed neuropsychiatric research in brain imaging and computational neural models for my PhD. The unique combination of my extensive neuroscience research background and my psychodynamic psychotherapy training means I am strongly in favor of evidence-based treatment, while appreciating the limitations of randomized controlled trials as assessment tools for highly individualized psychotherapeutic interventions. I will use both my knowledge of brains and my knowledge of minds to help you.

I incorporate up-to-date evidenced-based approaches, which may include Trauma-Informed Care and Counseling, Psychopharmacology (the use of medications to help treat mental health conditions, if appropriate), health, medical, and psycho-education counseling, and therapeutic support in a non-judgmental, thoughtful, and safe space.
