Hi. The mind is very similar to our physical bodies; symptoms develop to let us know that something is amiss. Environments, stress, and trauma influence these symptoms. As our physical bodies seek to heal themselves, so does our minds. Difficulties can be looked at as opportunites for growth. I seek to come alongside and work together to help the healing and growth through therapy and if need be medication. Medication is not sufficent alone. Just as the physical body seeks to heal itself when hurt, so the mind/soul with encouragement can heal.

As a Board Certified-Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, I am proficient in performing assessments as well as prescribing and managing medications for a multitude of disease processes. We have two board certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Chandra Cogburn and Shanti Herzog. We provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and psychiatric medication management treatment. Medication appointments are typically accompanied by brief counseling where we focus on achieving your overall health goals. We encourage people to also have a primary talk therapist for more comprehensive therapy. We see ages 5 and above to adult.

Prior to specializing in mental health, I practiced as a Certified Nurse Midwife for 20 years in public health and in the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Washington and Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. My experience working with women and their families instilled a passion for maternal mental health and inspired me to seek advanced training in perinatal and postpartum mood disorders.
