I am specialized in Dual Diagnosis disorders. My background is Addiction Psychiatry. However, I also practice General Adult Psychiatry. Recently I was the Medical Director and also the Addiction Psychiatrist at a nationally known addiction treatment center in West Palm Beach, FL.

When working with me, we are a team; I will cheer your wins and help you hold the losses. Like other providers, I can easily prescribe medications, but my holistic approach also investigates and develops a clear understanding of diagnosis, medication, and treatment. The possible time expectancies are 55-60 minutes for an initial appointment and 25- 30 for medication follow-ups. I have an open policy regarding emails with a turnaround answer of less than 10 hours and a standard eight-hour prior cancellation. I use a combination of the Carlat Podcast, Doximity, the Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI), Psych Congress, and ADDitude.

The Neuropsychiatric Institute provides Outpatient Behavioral Health Services for Adults, Families, Children and Adolescents. We believe that as long as you have your problems under control, then you do not need our assistance. However, if the problems have control over you, then you should seek help. Our approach is an eclectic, common sense approach. "Whatever works, works." Although we do utilize medications, our approach is to keep them to a minimum. There is no magic pill to solve problems.

Sima Alavi is a Board Certified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She began her career in 1995, after graduating from the University of Miami and continued on to earn her masters and Doctorate degree in the field of mental health with specialization in both children and adults. Her focus is in rehabilitation, detoxification, and recovery for both inpatient and outpatient treatment centers. Through evaluation and stabilization, she targets treatment for individuals experiencing a crisis situation and those who seek the need for immediate intervention. She works collaboratively with fellow psychiatric practitioners

Many patients have not seen results from previous providers, or worse, received harmful care. They find my approach to biological and functional psychiatry appealing. I explain their symptoms, treatment options, and risks/benefits/alternatives "better than any provider has before" and I "think outside the box". We seek the primary Cause of problems via a holistic approach; rather than just prescribe powerful psychotropic medications for Symptoms via a trial-and-error method too commonly seen in this country for our level of knowledge and experience.
