I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), based in Fairmont, West Virginia, and working with patients via telehealth. I do medical management for adults with various mental health conditions such as Generalized Anxiety disorder, Major Depressive disorder, Social Anxiety disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder, etc.
My approach to care is the patient-centered approach, actively understanding what patients value. I connect that to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I believe we should treat patients as we would want ourselves or family members to be treated.
My communication with my patients is usually the Assertive style of communication. I am straightforward with my questions and want my patients to feel comfortable telling me anything. I also know how to set boundaries with my patients when necessary. I respect my patients’ opinions, feelings, and autonomy.
