Ideally my patient is as invested in their care as I am. They may have a variety of diagnoses, but what they share in common is that they are willing to give the process time, are open to new ideas, and recognize that there is no magic pill to fix all their problems. My patients want to get to the best version of themselves and are willing to try therapy as well as medications to help them reach that goal. My patient seeks a provider who is empathetic and listens, guiding their care based on evidence while tailoring it to their individual needs.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, it is my job to partner with my patients to help prevent, identify, and treat psychiatric disorders. Through biological interventions, psychotherapy, and traditional approaches including medication management I help my patients lead happier, more productive lives.
