I have created a safe environment for all my patients to access care, to include a comprehensive telehealth program.

Born and raised in Kansas City, I decided to pursue a medical career during high school. I went to trade school and worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. After several years I decided to further my education in nursing, attaining my LPN, RN, BSN, MSN, and post-graduate certification. I graduated summa cum laude from all nursing coursework. Margurite decided to pursue my PMHNP certification out of my desire to more effectively help others suffering from anxiety and depression.

Each of us has a different background and unfolding story that makes us unique. As your provider, my goal is to listen and understand before we both move forward with any decisions about your own well-being. I have a deep appreciation for the mental health benefits provided by a comprehensive plan. This may include but is not limited to a well-rounded diet, daily movement, intentional therapy, and medication if needed.

I am the owner of MINDFUL MINDS PSYCHIATRY and a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric nurse practitioner who can see people beyond just a diagnosis. I am able to easily empathize, understand, and truly hear their needs. I believe that in order to create a truthful and genuine environment, and relationship between a provider and a person, is to work collaboratively towards their goals; in ways that I can help.

We see you as a person, not an illness. Together we will work with you to optimize your care and work towards remission of your symptoms. We ensure that you'll have time during your appointment to ask questions and make sure that you understand treatment options. We will offer suggestions for care and support what you decide. We will assess genetic and nutritional deficiencies and will add supplements and natural treatments as well as prescription medications as indicated.

He takes a holistic, evidence-based approach in his practice, believing that medications are not always the answer, or at least the whole answer, and often chooses to recommend therapy, dietary changes, exercise, and lifestyle modification when indicated.

I have a true passion for mental health and for helping others. People often ask why I chose Psychiatry, and I respond that it chose me. I was a registered nurse for 17 years prior to embarking on this journey as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I've taught mental health to nursing students for several years, then started working as a Psych NP in 2018. I've worked with patients of all acuities and diagnoses, including substance abuse, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD. In addition to "traditional" medication management and psychiatry, I work with my team at Plus by APN to help you evaluate additional psychiatric options like Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato or ketamine-assisted healing, or neurofeedback.
