About
I strive to provide assessment and treatment oriented to the uniqueness of the individual, resisting focus only on diagnostic labels. I get to know the individual person, not just their symptoms. When a person has not had success with brief therapies or numerous medications, sometimes a more in-depth understanding of the combination of factors that have come together in that individual's unique experience is what's missing. Please visit my website douglasbeechmd.com for details about fees. I DO NOT PARTICIPATE WITH ANY INSURANCE PLANS OR FILE CLAIMS. (Average session cost listed is for follow-up visits, initial visit is higher.)
I am a psychiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of emotional and psychological problems. An informed understanding of the complexities of people is necessary in order to formulate the most effective kind of help. I provide BOTH psychotherapy and medication therapy as indicated. I focus on understanding what is unique.
Most psychiatrists in our community (and nationally in most communities) focus on medication treatments almost exclusively. Although I do prescribe medication to the majority of patients that I see, my primary identity is as a psychotherapist, skilled at listening to and understanding the unique complexities of the individual person.
