I believe that nurturing a collaborative physician-patient relationship is key to helping patients gain a deeper understanding of their mental health. I strive to create a therapeutic environment where patients can feel comfortable discussing their concerns. My treatment process involves learning about the issues most pressing to my patients. I believe in a tailored and integrated approach that utilizes psychotherapy (including psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy), lifestyle modifications, psychiatric medications, and/or supplements.
I believe a trusting and caring physician-patient alliance is critical to providing the best possible treatment. I prefer to meet with patients regularly to gain an understanding of their lives and their symptoms. When necessary, I prescribe medications only after careful consideration of the intended duration, likely benefits, and possible side effects.
I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and medical degree from the University of North Carolina. I completed my psychiatry residency and chief residency at the University of Michigan. I serve as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Michigan, where I teach trainees.
