I am a nationally American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognized Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I believe in treating the whole person and not solely the immediate crisis. I educate others to embrace the importance of mental health and to understand it to be as critical as physical health. I have been practicing psychiatry for more than 20 years and am Board Certified in both Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and General Psychiatry. My practice focuses on the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. I am passionate about helping people and take a holistic approach to the care I deliver. I take time with the individuals and families I work with and seek to understand their struggles in the context of current life circumstances and past experiences. Dr. Lourdes J Chahin is a bilingual (Spanish) Child, Adolescent and Adult psychiatrist. She has practiced in various settings over her career: outpatient private practice, community mental health, Nurse Practitioners and medical student supervision, partial hospitalization and dual diagnosis rehabilitation programs. She is licensed in the states of NY, Fl and GA. She has over 20 years of experience helping children, adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, phobias, bipolar mood disorder and many other psychiatric conditions.

I work with individuals who have anxiety, depression, mood disorders, insomnia, relationship problems, trauma history, medical illness, neurological illness, and/or individuals who are helping family members with these problems. My experience over the last 25 years in psychiatry has shown that medications are helpful but do not take care of all problems in life. I offer combined psychiatric treatment. I received my psychiatric residency training from Georgetown University Hospital and fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

I am a dual Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse practitioner with ample experience working in health care. I have a special interest in the overlap of mental and physical health. Becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner is my fourth career. I am a medical doctor from another country and after being re-inserted into the United States health system as a registered nurse and, subsequently, a family nurse practitioner, I had the opportunity to take care of and treat several people with mental health needs.

I have a vast array of knowledge and experience that lends to my ability to treat many conditions. I can prescribe medications to manage Eating Disorders, PTSD, complicated grief, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and insomnia.

This is the calling that drew me to psychiatry, where I can navigate how to help individuals and families cope with their daily issues.
