I am a dual Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse practitioner with ample experience working in health care. I have a special interest in the overlap of mental and physical health. Becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner is my fourth career. I am a medical doctor from another country and after being re-inserted into the United States health system as a registered nurse and, subsequently, a family nurse practitioner, I had the opportunity to take care of and treat several people with mental health needs.

We strive to provide the highest quality evidence-based, compassionate care through a combination of medication management and customized psychotherapy to help patients/families overcome their most difficult challenges and achieve their greatest goals to lead their most joyful, fulfilling lives.

I am double board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I believe in using both medication when indicated as well as therapy. I was trained in CBT and was given the Excellence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program. I use supportive therapy with each client I see. During my residency I served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Overall Excellence in Psychiatry Award as well as the Clinical Excellence Award.

My approach is based on integrative psychiatry, which uses medications, therapy and complementary medicine to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. I address the combined impact of sleep, lifestyle, relationships, nutrition and chronic medical conditions on well-being, and use cutting edge tools like genetic testing to guide personalized treatment with medication and supplements. I consider the patient’s cultural background in my assessments and I can provide treatment in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian. My goal is to help my patients create lasting changes and build vitality, resilience and purpose in life.

An ideal client may be someone struggling with behavioral health issues, particularly substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. This client may have a range of issues, including addiction to drugs or alcohol, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or other mental health disorders. Their needs would likely include comprehensive assessment and treatment for both their substance use disorder and any co-occurring psychiatric conditions. They may require medication management, therapy, and support services tailored to their unique circumstances.

I graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Chemistry and Behavioral Neuroscience. I completed my medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and my psychiatry residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. I am experienced in treating a variety of psychiatric disorders in adults of all ages, as well as young adults, having spent time treating students in the SUNY college system.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and have been practicing since 2005. I completed my residency from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and my Fellowship in Addictions from the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation. Arnab Datta, MD is a general psychiatrist, talk therapist, addiction psychiatrist, couples therapist and meditation/EMDR doctor in one. Dr. Datta was a meditation teacher, singer and artist before becoming an MD. Most of his patients want the truth ie. a great listener who provides real world congruent answers to their specific problems in the fewest sessions. You don’t need to be an addict to see Dr. Datta either. He’s a controlled substance specialist who treats adderall, benzos and suboxone patients. As a doctorly trained board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner I offer client-centered care, making sure to respect the autonomy and safety of my patients.
