Hi, I’m Derek Terrell, PMHNP-BC and a graduate of Regis College. I specialize in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions affecting adults and adolescents. My special interests include working with professionals, minority groups, LGBTQ+, those that feel "othered", and providing 2nd opinions. I use a warm and empathic approach to create collaborative partnerships with my patients so that psychiatric concerns can be addressed from a shared perspective. I place a strong emphasis on psychoeducation by helping patients understand their diagnoses and management options so that they can make informed decisions about their health.
My practice is rooted in a blend of supportive, client-centered, and insight-oriented therapy, ensuring a holistic approach tailored to your individual needs. Our appointments will never feel rushed. I strive to work with clients to explore their emotions, understand their experiences, and develop practical strategies for managing their mental health needs.
During your intake, I will work with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. If medication is started, you can always expect to understand the reason medication was started and potential side effects. In therapy sessions, you can expect to feel validated and supported but also gain tools and strategies to put into action in between visits.
