About
I'm a psychoanalyst who works with adults, children, couples and families, and have a subspecialty in sexual difficulties. I have taught and written about issues across many areas of the life cycle, and am probably best known for my treatment and teaching about couple and family difficulties. Although I am a psychiatrist, I only prescribe for patients I treat with psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
Psychoanalytic therapies work in depth to help people with their difficulties and life crises, even if the actual work has a short term focus on a life crisis. I help people to look at the underlying vulnerabilities that make a current crisis or life situation more difficult than it otherwise has to be.
The treatment relationship between therapist and patient is at the heart of the helping process. I view each patient, couple or family as unique and requiring understanding from inside their situation. So I want to hear from that person about their experience in the difficulty that brings them to ask for help.
