Hi everyone, I'm a PMHNP-BC, MSN-Ed. My approach to mental healthcare is simple and that is to treat everyone as an individual with life experiences that matter and a story that has a right to be told. My focus areas of practice are patients who have been struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar, PMDD, perimenopause, and interpersonal relationship issues. My approach to care is to utilize screening tools, coupled with patient interviews. If possible, collateral information such as medical records and/or family/significant other accounts can help better understand the patient's personal story.
Additionally, it is important for me to also utilize a team approach to care. Empowering patients to have a say in their treatment plans and goals provides for better therapeutic outcomes. My most common theoretical approaches to facilitate care are CBT, Motivational Interviewing, supportive therapy, and Psychopharmacology.
When is comes to my communication style, I would say I work best with patients who are ready for real change and believe they will thrive with a more direct approach. With that said, it is important to note that empathy, kindness, and respect will always be the catalyst for my approach.
