I am a general adult psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Portland, OR. I treat symptoms of anxiety, depression, past trauma, personal loss, identity problems, and other painful feelings that may interfere with relationships, work and self-esteem. In my practice I emphasize psychodynamic psychotherapy but work with patients to find a balance with medication management that works best for them.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps patients cultivate their own powers of creativity and curiosity to understand painful experiences. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is key to this process. Working together we can increase your understanding of your unique set of emotions and behaviors, and how they relate to past and present relationships.
I am a faculty member in the Psychiatry Department of Oregon Health and Science University where I teach and supervise training psychiatrists, and where I have worked as both an inpatient and outpatient psychiatrist.
