I specialize in anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. Many people I work with describe patterns like high-functioning anxiety, constant mental load, anticipatory worry, and trouble relaxing; depression that looks like numbness, fatigue that rest does not fix, low motivation, or pulling away from others; ADHD-related challenges with focus, follow-through, organization, and mental overwhelm; trauma-related symptoms such as hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, shutdown, or feeling stuck in survival mode; or mood concerns that may include major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, persistent depressive disorder, or PMDD.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in psychiatric nursing prior to becoming an APRN, I bring a deep understanding of mental health care across the continuum of treatment. My experience working in acute and complex psychiatric settings has shaped a thoughtful, patient-centered approach that prioritizes listening, collaboration, and individualized care. I believe treatment should never feel rushed or transactional. Rather, meaningful treatment begins with truly listening and understanding the person behind the symptoms.

Telehealth — serving all of Connecticut. Your brain is a physical organ — and like any organ, it can heal, and change. Your struggles aren't character flaws — they're brain biology, and our brains can heal and grow. I've spent 27 years in healthcare across Connecticut — in ICUs, ERs, homes, schools, and communities. I made over 12,000 home visits as a visiting nurse. I know Connecticut, its families, and its healthcare landscape deeply. Awareness is the first step in healing.

Accepting new clients! I seek to help clients that feel overwhelmed, stressed or disconnected - both mentally and physically. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression or mood swings, but they notice that these emotional challenges are affecting their physical health. I aspire to work with people that are seeking a deeper level of care, looking at the whole picture. These individuals are ready to make a change but need the guidance and support from a professional who understands the connection between the mind and the body and can help them navigate the process with empathy and expertise.

I believe in decreasing stigma and barriers that prevent individuals from seeking mental health treatment. I have a holistic view of a person’s health and integrate this into clinical decisions. I believe in creating a trusting therapeutic relationship where the individual feels supported, validated, and listened to in a non-judgmental manner. I am passionate about providing quality service with empathy and patience. I hope to work in conjunction with therapists in Connecticut with the understanding that psychotherapy and medication management are evidence-based interventions and when combined provide the safest and best outcome.

Why is mental health important for first responders?
As part of their work, first responders are often exposed to high levels of stress, trauma, and physical injury that can put them at a greater risk for serious mental health conditions than the general population. Conditions like PTSD, anxiety, substance use, and depression are more common in first responders, which can greatly reduce quality of life and lead to burnout, sleep disruption, and even suicidal thoughts. Therapy can offer an opportunity for first responders to process difficult on-the-job experiences and develop coping skills to better manage any mental health symptoms they may experience.

How can first responders get access to mental health support?
Many first responders can access therapy for free or at a very low cost through their employer, such as through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Workplaces may also offer or have referral recommendations for support groups, where first responders can meet with others in their profession to receive support. Individuals who would like to access mental health services outside of their employer may use their insurance benefits to see a therapist, which they can find by searching for therapists online or asking for recommendations from their primary care physician.

What type of therapy is best for first responders?
The best therapy approach depends on the mental health concerns of the client. Since many first responders struggle with trauma or PTSD, they may benefit from trauma-specific therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Exposure Therapy, or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Individuals with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress may alternatively benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches, which can help clients develop coping skills to manage distressing thoughts.

Can therapy for first responders help with trauma and PTSD?
Therapy can be highly effective in both treating and preventing trauma and PTSD in first responders. Typically, therapy for trauma and PTSD focuses on developing stress management skills and managing intrusive or unwanted thoughts. Therapists working with first responders often help clients strengthen their relationships and reduce harmful coping mechanisms, such as excessive substance use. Additionally, therapists assist first responders in establishing daily habits that support overall mental and physical health and enhance resilience to future stress, such as regular physical exercise, mindfulness practices, and improved eating habits.
