Psychodynamic couples therapy is an exploratory kind of therapy. Adults carry within themselves the lessons and feelings from a lifetime of experiences. Some of these are obvious, and some are located outside of one’s awareness. All these experiences and feelings can potentially affect the situation which brings a couple to therapy. Concerns about intimacy and sexual connection can have psychodynamic underpinnings and may also be explored in this therapy. Some couples note that they are having the same quarrel over and over, and they feel stuck and unable to change this pattern. Some are unsure if they wish to stay together.

This therapy will offer an opportunity to gain a fuller perspective on the couple’s situation. It will address problematic interactions, disappointments, misunderstandings, and so forth. It is designed to increase both persons’ capacity to reflect on their situation and on the options available to them. At times it can help resolve difficult couple impasses.
I am happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have. Meetings can be in person or on zoom. Mondays are the only day I am in the office for sessions. Meetings via zoom can be scheduled on various weekdays.
