About
I am a psychiatrist (MD), board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. I have treated thousands of patients in many different settings and levels of care over my 20 year career. I have extensive training and experience in psychopharmacology (medications), psychotherapy, and addictions (alcohol, opiates, tobacco, and others. I specialize in co-occurring disorders (that is, when mental health issues are intertwined with an addictive disorder), but I can certainly help with either disorder by itself just as well.
In addition to traditional psychiatric medications and talk therapy (including group therapy), I incorporate a complete assessment and treatment plan that includes factors such as lifestyle, diet and nutrition, hormonal factors, sleep, energy level, and metabolism. I utilize laboratory studies (such as blood, urine, and saliva tests to perform a comprehensive evaluation.
The goal is to identify any possible underlying factors that might be contributing to your problems, and to address them appropriately. In this way we are looking at your overall health picture, not just mental health and addictions but any other possible contributing factors.
