I am a board certified psychiatrist offering diagnostic evaluation and treatment in psychotherapy, medication-assisted psychotherapy, and medication management. After completing training at Duke University Medical Center, I engaged in further studies at San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and at California Institute for Integral Studies. I have facility in multiple modalities and am engaged in discovering which one is most effective for you. Dr. Begel received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Yale University, where he also completed his residency in psychiatry. At Yale he studied the conceptual foundations of psychiatry and the core principles of diverse treatment methods. He is up to date on psychiatric research and treatment, and utilizes the full range of methods in his work, including genetic analysis, psychotherapy, and medication management.

I am passionate about providing comprehensive care & improving the overall health in my patients. I strongly believe in the total body connection & recognizing illnesses are much more than just a “body part.” I am well known for my energy, out of the box thinking & ability to recognize missed health conditions. If once-a-week Zoom therapy has poor results, call us. We do 1- Individual therapy 2- Family therapy 3- Group therapy 4- Psychiatrist appointments. The most common issues we see are self harm, suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety. If your child is experiencing one of these issues, please call us. We have a great track record when dealing with these issues. We are seeing major improvements in teens we treat. We currently have kids in our program who were suicidal just a few months ago, and now they are feeling much better and are heavily involved in college prep activities like honors classes, sports, band, etc.
