It’s hard to say what my ideal patient would be because no two patients are the same. It could be a client who appears high-functioning but feels overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained beneath the surface. They may struggle with overthinking, mood changes, or feeling stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. Often, they’ve been carrying a lot on their own.
They’re seeking clarity, balance, and relief—not quick fixes. Their goal is to better understand themselves, quiet the mental noise, and feel more grounded.

From early on in my career I saw a strong correlation between physical health and mental health, this is why I pursued an advanced degree as a psychitric nurse practitioner. I belive nutrition to be a cornerstone in the treatment and management of both. I find it important in my caring for clients that I focus on the dynamics between- physical health, mental health and environment. I encorporate therapy modalities into my practice to help support optimizing environmental contributors to symptoms. Minimizing medications and helping clients to feeling their best, without all the side effects! I look forward to working with you.

Are you feeling stressed out, stuck, helpless, overwhelmed with fear or disappointment, unable to focus or get anything done? Do you want to keep functioning this way? I provide modern treatment strategies, with a 3 fold approach: remove what's hurting you, support what's helping you, and grow more helpful components. This a systems based approach, targeting brain regions, neurotransmitters, signalling pathways, and inflammation. I work with people who are well-trained in how to understand and interact with the world logically; but find stumbling blocks in their psychological and emotional well-being.

FAQ - Family Therapy Psychiatrists
Do psychiatrists provide family therapy?
Some psychiatrists do provide family therapy as part of their practice, but it is less common than individual treatment. While all psychiatrists are trained in psychotherapy during their training, most focus their practice on individual medication management and one-on-one therapy. Family therapy is typically the specialty of licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs), licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), and psychologists who have more dedicated training in family systems and group dynamics.
What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a family therapist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who can prescribe medication and provide medical evaluations for mental health conditions, while a family therapist focuses exclusively on therapeutic interventions without the ability to prescribe medication. Family therapists (often licensed as LMFTs or LCSWs) complete master's level training specifically in family systems theory, which examines how family members interact and influence each other's behavior and emotional well-being. Psychiatrists receive medical training that focuses more on the biological, rather than relational, aspects of mental illness.
Do I need an individual psychiatrist or a family psychiatrist?
What kind of mental health clinician is needed depends on the nature of the problem you are facing. Individual psychiatry is better when you have specific psychiatric symptoms (like panic attacks, mood swings, or psychotic symptoms) that require professional diagnosis and potentially medication. Family therapy provided by a psychiatrist, in contrast, may be a good fit when problems manifest in family relationships, such as parent-child conflicts, communication challenges, or adjusting to major family transitions like divorce or grief. In some cases, it may be appropriate to see both an individual and a family psychiatrist if there are individual and relationship-related concerns in a family simultaneously. For example, a teenager with depression might see a psychiatrist for medication and symptom monitoring while the entire family attends therapy together to improve communication and support the teen's recovery.
