I have experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and humanistic therapy to name a few.
Accepting new patients (including for evening appointments)! We all start at different places. Maybe you experience debilitating symptoms or a vague dissatisfaction. We can go from wherever you are in your journey. Not everyone needs a full diagnosis (from the psychiatric Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) to benefit in treatment. Just starting wherever you are is a big step. Let's talk more to figure out what you need.

I utilize multiple modalities of treatment in my practice, including medical foods, complementary medical approaches, medications, psychotherapies (CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic, EMDR and family/couples), mindfulness, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
I am here to provide guidance, expertise, and treatment approaches for stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, concentration problems, relationship difficulties, drug or alcohol use, or life/career transitions. No matter what their age, many of the clients who eventually find me have done everything they can on their own and/or with the help of loved ones to manage these issues and are just in need of a little more information, help and support. They are all seeking a professional who can offer insight into what is happening with them or their loved one and provide an assortment of treatment approaches.

“Humanism is a philosophical and ethical stance that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings and generally prefers critical thinking and evidence (rationalism and empiricism) over acceptance of dogma or superstition”.
Do you feel you're having hard time dealing with your daily life? Any decline in your level of functioning? I apply to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 6th Edition by American Psychiatric Association to evaluate if your signs and symptoms fit the criteria for any psychiatric disorders. Treatments are client-centered and follows the FDA guidelines and the most current and reliable scientific research. The treatment plan is co-designed by you and me; addressing your short and long term goals, prioritizing your most urgent concerns to improve your overall health and functioning.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Psychiatrists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
